Thomas Collet was born at Ivinghoe on 30th July 1697, where he was baptised later that same year, the last child born to Robert Collet of Cheddington by his wife Elizabeth. Thomas was married twice when he married (1) Mary, who died after the birth of their second child, following which Thomas then married (2) Elizabeth whose surname may have been Bailys [Bayliss]. All of his five children were born in the village of Padbury, one mile from the town of Buckingham. Thomas Collet died at Padbury on 20th October 1778 at the age of 81. 3
