The story given to the Author by Lene Eikenhout (nee Van Kouten) in 2015 is as follows:
Kornelis and his wife Jacoba came to Australia in the late 1950's to visit their two daughters and their families who were working on farms in the New South Wales highlands around Cooma. Kornelis was helping when he fell off a haystack and broke his back, with resulting paralysis. Kornelis and his wife returned to Holland. He was not able to accept his infirmity and basically gave up and died.

  Death Notes:

Fell off a haystack on a farm outside Canberra, Australia & broke his back. Spent a long time in Canberra hospital and eventually returned to Holland. Doctors finally told him he would never walk again and he decided he did not want to live that way and died two days later.

Kornelis married Jacoba van Nieuwenhuize, daughter of Willem van Nieuwenhuize and Lena Nuijens, on Nov 23, 1927 in Zonnemaire, Schouwen-Duiveland, Zeeland, Netherlands.¹ (Jacoba van Nieuwenhuize was born on Jul 13, 1907 in Zonnemaire, Schouwen-Duiveland, Zeeland, Netherlands and died in 1990 in Zierikzee, Schouwen-Duiveland, Zeeland, Netherlands.)
