Her obituary was published on Oct 25, 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. 2 Family-Placed Death Notice ANTENEN, Amy Jo Amy Jo Antenen, 48, of Decatur, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Amy was born on February 22, 1965, in Gainesville, Florida, and was the daughter of Dr. Wayne W. Antenen and Mrs. Mary C. Antenen of Athens, Georgia. Amy was a 1983 graduate of Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, Georgia, where she was Captain of the women's tennis team. She received a tennis scholarship to Georgia State University where she attended from 1984-1988. She received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (Statistics) with a minor in Computer Information Systems. Amy worked as an Actuarial Manager for Southern Heritage Insurance Company for six years and as the Director of Finance (Accounting and Actuarial) of Insurance House for eleven years. She was the Vice President of Actuarial Risk for Bank of America for two years. Apart from her professional career, Amy will long be remembered for her contributions to her community. Throughout her high school and college years, she was an active member of the City of Athens Aquatics program, part of the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department (formally known as Athens Parks and Recreational Department), where she was initially hired as a lifeguard and eventually held the position as the Summer Aquatics Director. She also served on the Board of Directors as Treasurer for The Health Initiative, a non-profit organization providing health resources for under-served populations. Amy is survived by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Wayne W. Antenen of Athens, Georgia; her children, Emma Christin Antenen (17) and Charles Wayne Antenen (13) and their mother, Marykay Mentzer of Decatur, Georgia; and her brother, Wes Fremont Antenen and his wife, Amy Davis Antenen of Decatur, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Julie Beth Antenen, of Athens, Georgia, in 1969. The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, October 27, 2013, from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at A.S. Turner & Sons, located at 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia 30033; Telephone: (404) 292-1551.
