bullet  General Notes:

Mary Josephine Deery's birth was not registered. Calculation from documents place the date between 1852 & 1854.

The marriage banns say Mary was 19 years old. If right she would have been born in 1852

Her death certificate states she was 66 on May 13, 1920. So that puts the year of her birth at 1854.
It also states that her father was William Deery, a civil servant and her mother was Caroline (maiden name unknown). However these parents names conflict with other records.

She did have a sister Caroline and a brother William, 2 siblings that out lived her by a few years so the undertaker may have assumed that they were the next of kin and wrongly transcribed them as her parents

Note the "consent by Henry Deery father". This researcher is inclined to believe the ITM is the correct interpretation. This is because the ITM is 50 years younger and the information on the death certificate was given by the undertaker. There is no record of where he got his data.

NOTE: There are some documents where her name is misread as "DURY" and others where it is mis-spelled as "DEARY"

There is a story told by Steven Ranson that had been told to him by his grandfather Eugene Percival Thompson:
"William was living in a house that was half buried in the side of a hill such that the chimney from the fire came out of the ground. In order to meet William, Mary Josephine apparently climbed the hill and poured water down the chimney. This doused the fire & forced William to come out to investigate."
