The marriage certificate states that Ivy's father, Alfred, was a farmer. This is wrong. He was a retired Hotel Keeper, and a former miner, but never a farmer. It appears that Ivy retained her maiden name and appears as such in the electoral rolls albeit her last name was spelt Sheppard. 1
